WSU/Larksfield Place Formal Agreement

Yesterday Larksfield Place and WSU had a formal signing ceremony announcing the formalization of their long-standing partnership of education and support.

"Projects between students and Larksfield Place community members have always had a mutual goal of sharing and respect," said Ardis, Larksfield Place community member.

Jodine, also a Larksfield Place community member, and Ardis have both participated in the student/resident relationship through the physical therapy program.

Nearly 100 people attended the signing, including representatives from WSU, Larksfield Place, the greater Wichita community and elected officials. The photo shows Ardis speaking with the media about the history of the Larksfield Place/WSU alliance.

Connecting with Social Media

One of the social media sites that we are exploring is Facebook. Did you know…

  • According to a recent Nielsen study the number of seniors using the Web has increased by 6 million in the last five years
  • 17.5 million people 65 and older online as of Nov. 2009
  • Nearly half of online seniors visited Facebook or YouTube in Dec. 2009, making them their third and fourth most visited online destinations
  • In one year, Facebook went from the 45th most popular site with seniors to #3!
The photo shows Larry sending a message to a family member using Facebook. Last week, he used Facebook to chat with KSN Weatherman Mark Bogner!

Getting Started

The social media group at Larksfield Place is launching a blog! We plan to post community member thoughts on social media as well as other topics related to the theme "What's Age Got To Do With It?"

The ladies in the photo are a few of the people learning more about social media and social networking in addition to other fun technology.
